Snowmachiner strikes guardrail, dies after falling from bridge

A 49-year-old man died on Thursday when he lost control of a snowmachine and fell 10 feet off a bridge near Moose Creek Lodge, Alaska State Troopers said.

Donald Lee Wiegert was killed around 11 p.m. after his 2000 Ski-Doo hit a guardrail and flipped him off a bridge. He landed below on his back, troopers said.

Wiegert was on his way with three friends from the lodge to North Pole, troopers said.

After the accident, emergency medical personnel transported him back to the lodge, where he was declared dead.
